Submission Guidelines

At Nenta Literary Journal, we proudly publish works exclusively from Ghanaian writers. We kindly request that all submissions adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Submit your work as a .doc or .docx file.

  • Name the file after the title of your poem, fiction, or nonfiction piece.

PLEASE NOTE: Bios are not required at the time of submission. If your work is selected by our curators, we will reach out to request a bio.

Multiple or Simultaneous Submissions

NENTA does not allow multiple submissions. Yes, we are open to simultaneous submissions. Please reach out to us to withdraw your work if an acceptance is made elsewhere before ours.

Previous contributors should wait 16 months before submitting again.

Submission Deadlines
Submissions are open from the 1st to the 15th of every month. Any work submitted outside this date will not be read.

Submission fees

Nenta Literary Journal does not collect any submission fee from its writers.

Payment for curated works

We pay our writers a token of Gh¢150.

Submission Categories

  • Poetry:
    Send up to two poems of any length or form to poetrycurator.nentajournal@gmail.com.

  • Fiction:
    We accept fiction submissions of fewer than 5,000 words. Please send one title per submission to fictioncurator.nentajournal@gmail.com

  • Creative Nonfiction:
    We welcome bold, incisive essays that bring a fresh Ghanaian sensibility to the page—ranging from playful commentary to acute criticism. Keep your piece under 5,000 words and submit one at a time to nonfictioncurator.nentajournal@gmail.com

    You may also submit:

    Opinion pieces, reviews of literature/art/media, criticism, cultural commentary, travel essays, and profiles.
